CASE STUDY: LIBRARY PREPARATION DEVICE
When in need of a complex instrument with a proprietary fluidic transport system, a biotech company calls on Simplexity to develop a fully functional alpha production prototype.
The Product
- Targeted to be the smallest bench top automated library preparation instrument
- Complex instrument interfaces with a cartridge that has 20+ reagents and a sample port
- Includes a reagent cooler, magnetic bead extraction, and a proprietary fluidic transport system
Our Role
- Delivered a fully functional alpha production prototype which interfaces with the prototype cartridge to run the assay workflow end-to-end in 18 weeks
- Worked closely with the cartridge team to analyze, design, and lock the cartridge-to-instrument interfaces within 6 weeks to enable parallel development of multiple systems and cartridges
- Instrument enabled assay scientists to integrate assay development onto the prototype cartridge
- System and mechanical analysis were completed in order to create a low cost and manufacturable product architecture
- Thermal analysis completed to inform the ID development and product packaging
