DROP DETECT
VERIFY DROP EMISSION AND DROP VELOCITY FOR MICRO-FLUIDIC DISPENSING SYSTEMS
Market Need
- Automated micro-fluidic drop dispensing systems are improving cost and throughput for a wide variety of test procedures across the biotech industry. Smaller samples translate to higher efficiencies, but automated drop-dispensing systems require drop detection to ensure they are working properly. Simplexity’s Drop Detect system measures the presence and velocity of drops to keep your dispenser working reliably.
Hardware
- Uses laser diode emitter-detector pairs and sophisticated proprietary electronic controls providing adaptive thresholding.
- When the drop breaks the beam of the laser diode, the electronics detect that signal. By having two emitter-detector pairs, we get a measurement of drop velocity. That provides advanced diagnostics to let you know ahead of time if your drop dispenser is developing a clogged nozzle or your fluid viscosity is off.
- Electronics take analog raw data and convert it to digital for integration with your process control system.
- Verified performance down to 2 nL drop size, but detector system can be customized for a wide range of drop sizes.
